Privacy
print-lab is a personal hobby project — a set of tools for making 3D-printable models. It is shared privately with a handful of people. There is no company here, no analytics, and nothing is sold to anyone.
What signing in gives us
Signing in with Google tells us your email address, and nothing else. We ask Google for exactly two things — that you are signed in, and your address — and we use it for one purpose: checking whether you are on the invitation list.
While you are signed in, that address sits in a cookie in your own browser, signed so it cannot be tampered with. Signing out, or clearing your cookies, removes it. It expires by itself after 30 days.
The invitation list
Your address is also kept in a small database, because that list is what being invited means. Alongside it we store a short note about who you are (written by whoever invited you), which of us added you, when, and the last time you signed in. That is the whole record — five fields, no profile, no history of what you did on the site.
Ask to be taken off the list and the row is deleted outright. Nothing is archived, and there is nothing else of yours to remove.
What you make stays on your machine
Every model is built in your browser. Designs, saved projects and settings are kept in your browser's local storage and are never uploaded — we could not see them if we wanted to. Downloaded STL and 3MF files are generated on your own computer.
Other services
- The terrain tool fetches maps and elevation data from LINZ, OpenStreetMap, Nominatim, Overpass and AWS as you use it. Those requests come from your browser, so those services see your IP address and what you looked at. Their own privacy policies apply.
- The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps ordinary server logs — IP address, timestamp, which page was requested. The invitation list lives in a Neon Postgres database, hosted in Sydney.
- Google handles the sign-in itself, under its own privacy policy.
Getting rid of it
Sign out to drop the cookie. Ask to be taken off the invitation list and the row goes with it. Between the two, nothing of yours is left.
